GLUTTONY
THE SEVEN DEADLY SINS
PRIDE, GLUTTONY, WRATH, SLOTH, GREED, ENVY and LUST. Seven directors were asked to interpret one sin each. They were encouraged to use humour.
In the autumn of 1999, the Norwegian Film Institute invited seven directors to interpret one deadly sin each in their own way. In sum, the films may say something about who the people living in Norway today really are. Pope Gregory I laid down the deadly sins in the sixth century. In part inspired by the turn of the millennium, the Danish Dogme 95 movement and Kieslowski’s Dekalog: The Ten Commandments, seven films have been made, making use of the classical deadly sins as their points of origin to tell their stories about dysfunctional feelings.
